If you came out to the Los Angeles Convention Center a few weeks back and managed to catch up with GlassWalls and me in the PlayStation E3 Booth (err…complex), chances are you got a glimpse at a new suite of games packed into one convivial space known as Midway. And chances are you asked us when it was going to be released. And chances are we gave you a wink and a sly smile and said “soon.”
It’s funny how quickly “soon” turns to “tomorrow” in the rapidly-growing world of PlayStation Home. As the holiday weekend approaches us (and with it, all those extra hours to play our favorite games), we figured tomorrow would be the perfect time to launch what is easily one of the most epic gaming experiences to ever be released in PlayStation Home.
The Midway — available Thursday, July 1st — launches with 10 games, over a hundred rewards (including the Darla’s Den personal space), and plenty of secrets that you will have to uncover for yourself as you progress through this massive new game space. Simply collect your tickets from the kiosk at the entrance to the Midway and embark on a journey where a new reward is unlocked for every level of every game you master. Hang out in the space for long enough and you can even be rewarded with more plays for your favorite games (or the ultimate bragging rights at the Meet Darla photo booth). You can even collect exclusive arcade-style games like Trigger Happy-in-a-Box for the Darla’s Den personal space! Just enter the hilarious Tele-Porta-Potty in PlayStation Home’s Central Plaza to access the Midway when it launches this week.

Following on from the very busy week just gone, we have a relatively quiet week this week. For those who haven’t visited the E3 Booth space and watched the trailers found within, drop by tonight as the Booth will disappear tomorrow!
How is your team doing in the World Cup so far? Mine seems to think football is meant to played 10 vs 11… Anyway, arriving in the store this week we have a big selection of shirts for you to show your pride for your team. We have official team shirts from Umbro and Puma, and a range of interesting designs for the other nations.
Now that the Stuff store is open, we plan to stuff it full of interesting items. Last week saw the release of the Dice object; this week you’ll find a new item that’s out of this world. Place the Active8: Apartment UFO in your personal space and watch the aliens come to abduct cows.
PlayStation Home’s E3 Booth an Enormous Success + Toy Story 3, Community Events, and More!

Last week, PlayStation Home took a huge step forward in connecting gamers to their favorite PlayStation titles by bringing the E3 experience directly to their PlayStation 3 consoles via our virtual E3 Booth. We wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you, the nearly quarter of a million gamers that have visited the booth since we launched it last Tuesday. In the first day alone we had over 60,000 visitors (compare that to the 46,500 real world attendees — more people visited the PlayStation Home E3 Booth in one day than did the Los Angeles Convention Center for the E3 festivities last week!)

It’s a big, big week this week! Yesterday we announced our new Home Square and Shopping Centre spaces, as well as launching the PlayStation E3 Booth space … and there’s plenty more for you to read about below! We’ll get started with E3:
Millions of gamers across the globe are glued to their monitors this week, rabidly devouring every last detail surrounding the announcements made during the video game industry’s biggest trade show: The Electronic Entertainment Expo. Simply put, E3 is the place to be if you are passionate about games. Everyone wants to be there, but only a select few are able to attend.
Until now.
This week, we take a huge step forward in bringing gamers closer to their favourite PlayStation titles, closer to the people that create these games, and closer to one another by delivering the E3 experience directly to their PlayStation 3 consoles.
Right now, you can log into PlayStation Home and experience E3 for yourself in PlayStation Home’s virtual E3 booth. Watch Jack Tretton’s 2010 E3 press conference and get briefed on what to expect from the PlayStation platform in the coming months. Check out the latest games and collect exclusive PlayStation Home rewards (we’ve got new ones waiting for you every day of E3). Unlock the VIP area and get a sneak peek at what’s in store for PlayStation Home fanatics this year. Only in PlayStation Home can you participate in the E3 action without boarding a plane, securing a pass, or stepping foot in the Los Angeles Convention Centre.
Moving on from E3, tomorrow’s update will be chock full of exciting new content. So much that we’ve not got the time or space to list it all in detail. The content explosion starts with the anticipated “Playground” space, and urban playground set in an environment reminiscent of Brooklyn 30 years ago. The playground contains plenty to do with a multiplayer basketball game (H-O-R-S-E), chess, rooftop lounge, and a stage perfect for letting your hair down while enjoying the original hip-hop and funk music pumping out.
Drop by the GAME space this week to check out the newest Lunar mini-game: Lunar Duel. In this two-player game you’ll be tasked with lobbing ammunition of various types across the lunar landscape in an effort to eradicate your opponent!
There’s an absolute shopping bonanza in the new Shopping Centre this week. So much that we won’t detail everything. To give you a taster of what to expect, however, those browsing the stores this week might be interested by the following: Yakuza 3 clothing, Lockwood clothing, Karate Kid content, Darksiders clothing, Neptune furniture, V-Store update, Japanese-themed clothing and furniture, and more!
There’s so much new content for PlayStation Home this week that’s there’s bound to be something for everyone. Join us in the brand new Home Square and Shopping Centre tomorrow and help us celebrate this exciting occasion!

This week marks the release of one of the top requested features from the PlayStation Home community: Games that players can collect and place at will in their personal spaces and clubhouses. Available now in the LOOT store in the PlayStation Home Mall is a new game, Cabin Boy, that users can purchase and then share with their friends in the personal space(s) of their choosing. This highly-addictive game challenges players to juggle multiple tasks (including fishing, protecting a friend from the sun’s scorching rays, and keeping a curious cat away from the daily catch) in order to place on the game’s “friend’s list” and community leaderboards. Check out this video for a look at LOOT’s new Cabin Boy game – a first for PlayStation Home.
Coming tomorrow, June 17th, is a brand new PlayStation Home game space known as the “Playground.” Previewed approximately a month ago in the official PlayStation Home forums, the appropriately titled Playground space is an urban playground and block party setting not completely unlike what you would have found in Brooklyn 30 years ago. This visually-dazzling, immersive space contains a multiplayer basketball game (H-O-R-S-E), chess, a rooftop lounge, and a stage where the community can party while enjoying high-quality, original hip-hop and funk music circa-1980. And if you want to bring the party back home, simply pick up the Playground Boombox (available on Thursday, June 24th) and take the music to your personal space for your own private bash.
See you in Home!
PlayStation Home: New Home Square Unveiled!
by AlexSix on Jun.16, 2010, under EU Home, PlayStation Home Universe
Posted on 15 June by Alex Weekes – Home Community Lead, SCEE
We’ve teased you long enough with hints… Today, we’re pleased to announce that this Thursday we cut the ribbon and open the brand new Home Square and Shopping Centre! We’re really excited about finally releasing the new spaces, where we’ll be able to bring you, the community that makes PlayStationHome what it is, exciting new experiences. So read on to find out more about the completely revamped spaces and new content housed within them: there’s so much I’m not quite sure where to start…
We’ll kick off with the harbour-side Home Square, where you’ll find plenty of exciting new attractions. Joining existing buildings – such as the cinema and bowling alley – you’ll find all-new mini-games including Supa-Fun Robo-Goalie Time!!, a game where you will be put on the spot to kick home penalty shots past an increasingly skilful robot goalie.
Towards the harbour frontage you’ll find a video screen topped by a scrolling news ticker, where you’ll be able to find out all the latest goings-on in Home. Take a moment to gaze across the harbour view then have a closer look at the attractive new water fountain that doubles as a Polling Booth. Here you will be able to answer multiple-choice questions on a wide range of topics, with the community’s answers affecting the water jets in real time.
Once you can drag yourself away from all the new fun to be had in Home Square, take a wander past the cinema and through to the new open-air Shopping Centre. Surrounding an open central space, shop fronts both old and new are easily accessible. As a quick hint, if you’re looking for some bargains head for Threads 2 and see what you can find!
We look forward to welcoming you all to the new Home Square and Shopping Centre this Thursday!
PlayStation Home: FevaArena Goes Global, London Pub Updated!
by AlexSix on Jun.09, 2010, under EU Home, PlayStation Home Universe
Posted on 9 June by Alex Weekes – Home Community Lead, SCEE
Last week saw the release of the FevaArena pitch, and since then you’ve been kicking balls, making match predictions, and picking up your national supporters gear. This week we get into the full spirit of the World Cup, opening the doors on the “Global Lounge”. In a PlayStationHome first, visitors from all four Home regions will mingle in the same space to discuss the World Cup and partake in games and special events.
Moving on from football, the folks at VeeMee have something special for owners of The London Pub this week. Based on popular feedback from the community when The London Pub was first released in January, the Darts mini-game included in the space will be updated this week – for free! – with an all-new game mode: Killer. Invite your friends to your local to check out this new Darts rules set!
Keen on a disco party? This week we’re releasing the perfect disco furniture set from Lockwood! Consisting of the Animated Disco Rig, Laser Light Show stand, large Flashing Disco Floor, and Multi-colour Helium Balloons, and Blue Neon Sofa you’ll have all the tools you need to create an amazing light show in your personal space or clubhouse. Not happy with merely lighting up your space? Pick up the glowing yellow shoes or animated glowing equaliser shirt for your avatar!
Community Theater Launches This Week in PlayStation Home, 2 Disgaea Spaces Packed with Games
by AlexSix on Jun.09, 2010, under NA Home, PlayStation Home Universe

PlayStation Home is about connecting gamers through a universe of games, and this week will mark the launch of yet another powerful addition to our arsenal. The brand new PlayStation Home Community Theater serves to bring players closer to their favorite gaming websites, blogs, podcasts, videocasts (and other media outlets) while further uniting the enormous audience under the shared interest of awesome PlayStation games. This dedicated screen in PlayStation Home’s 10-Screen Theater provides a channel for bloggers and journalists to connect with the huge and diverse PlayStation Home community through exclusive videos specially crafted for PlayStation Home.
This week will see the introduction of our first partners in this new venture — PS Nation. As one of the most respected independent sites focused on PlayStation games, we consider this group of hardcore gaming aficionados to be a perfect introduction to our quickly growing roster of Community Theater participants. Glenn Percival of PS Nation had the following to say when we caught up with him the other day to discuss the launch of this exciting new community initiative:
“Our number one goal was to always include our community in what we do, so what better venue could there be than PlayStation Home? The biggest PlayStation community available! We can’t wait to bring our love of Minecarts, Sportsball, Torgo-Hype, and ‘Trophies Yo!’ to the PlayStation Home community.”
